"The first part of the recruiting process is having a connection with the coaches and I connected really well with everyone." Mya Wilson said. Mya was particularly impressed by the culture of the Hawkeyes. "The players were so welcoming to me from the time I walked in to practice, after practice and lunch before the football game. That's the culture I want to be part of and its a testament to Lisa and the coaching staff." Mya Wilson said.

Wilson appreciates the fact that the Hawkeye play style complements her own and finds it to be a valuable aspect of the program. "My strength in my game is fast paced, run and gun. I love that style and Iowa runs that up tempo game, along with strong defensive presence." Mya Wilson said. The women's basketball program in Iowa has been warmly welcomed by the community. During the preseason, over 55,000 people filled Kinnick Stadium to watch Iowa womens basketball face off against Depaul University. A 21-year-old attendance record was shattered by this event. "The atmosphere after practice and the football game was an entirely new experience for me, my father, and sister, Lisa and the staff are legends. The fans are amazing and pumped to see Coach Lisa, Jan and others."
